Dell – Steps to Reset the IDRAC Password via RACADM

Install the Dell RACADM command-line utility by downloading the appropriate iDRAC Tools package for your operating system from the Dell Support Site.

Installing on Windows

  • Download the Dell OpenManage DRAC Tools package for Windows.
  • Run the downloaded executable installer on your local system.
  • Open Command Prompt as an Administrator.
  • Navigate to the installation directory to run racadm commands

  • Open the command line on the host operating system (such as Windows or Linux) where Dell management tools are installed.
  • Navigate to the RACADM directory if you are on Windows, typically found at cd "C:\Program Files\Dell\sysmgt\rac5".
  • Run the set command for user ID 2, which is the default root or administrator account: racadm set iDRAC.Users.2.Password "NewPassword123!"
